Darlene Love’s Last “Christmas – Baby Please Come Home” On Letterman
With David Letterman retiring, so is his annual Christmas show tradition. Making her 28th appearance singing “Christmas – Baby Please Come Home”, Darlene Love rocked her holiday classic on the Late Show. Before she performed, Darlene sat down with David Letterman and clarified a rumor going around about her and the song. Darlene explained that she’s not retiring the song altogether. She will still perform it during her live concerts, but she will never do it on another person’s show after Letterman wraps up.
Darlene Love also gave David Letterman all the credit for making the song a standard at her shows. She used to sing it, but not on a regular basis. When she started doing annual appearances beginning back on the Late Night with David Letterman show nearly 30 years ago, that’s when she became known for it.
