Jon Stewart Doesn’t Know What to Say About Eric Garner Grand Jury Decision

There’s nothing funny about what’s going on in America when it comes to police and race. Last night Jon Stewart tried to find something comedic to say about yesterday’s announcement that a New York Grand Jury decided not to indict the police officer responsible for the death of Eric Garner. But, he said, “if comedy is tragedy plus time, I need more fucking time, but I would really settle for less fucking tragedy to be honest with you.”
Stewart pointed out that even though none of the ambiguities that were present in the Ferguson case– none of the conflicting evidence exists in the case surrounding Eric Garner’s death, and yet, the same result as Ferguson. And so, the never at a loss for words Jon Stewart concludes that he just doesn’t know what to say or do, other than to literally shake his fists in frustration, and wonder whether we’re living in a society at all.
What do you do when you don’t know what to say? You put on video of cats massaging cats of course. Nope. Didn’t help.
