Tony Dungy Says He’d Take Ray Rice
With Ray Rice being reinstated, the speculation about where he’ll land has begun, with ESPN reporting the Colts and Saints have kicked the tires on the former Rutgers running back. But signing Rice includes taking on a huge media following, which would be too much of a distraction, right?
Not for Tony Dungy. The “Football Night In America” analyst said that as long as Ray Rice has learned his lesson, he’d sign him to the team. Which, as OutSports’ Cyg Zeigler says, is kinda bullshit:

I guess the problem with Sam for Dungy is that he hasn’t “learned from his mistake” because, of course, Dungy feels Sam being gay is a mistake.
This is just a few months after he said he would not want Michael Sam on his team. He offered some lame excuse for his comment about Sam, saying it was all about the media “distraction” that followed Sam, blaming Oprah Winfrey’s docuseries. This, of course, was just a couple years after supporting Michael Vick’s return to the NFL as he was being followed for a docu-series.
Once again, Dungy’s role as Vick’s “mentor” comes back to bite him in the ass. Of course, Dungy could offer to “mentor” Sam, but Sam would be 100% right to turn him down: not because he should be gay and proud, but because Dungy’s “mentoring” has Vick stuck with the Jets.
