The Battle of the Big December Comedies: The Interview vs Top Five. Who Ya Got?

This month two major comedy movies will be coming to theaters, The Interview, starring Seth Rogen opens on December 25th. Chris Rock’s Top Five opens on December 12. Both movies are comedies, both have received a lot of hype and both are helmed by comedy superstars. So who has the edge? Which movie are you more excited to see. Will it be….
Top Five
The cast of Top Five is a comedy who’s who. Chris Rock not only stars but also wrote and directed the film, and the film is filled with comics serving as supporting actors, cameos and various walk ons. Just to name a few, Rachel Feinstein, Kevin Hart, JB Smoove, Doug Stanhope, Dan Naturman, Rick Shapiro, Leslie Jones, Jerry Seinfeld, Adam Sandler, Tracy Morgan, Cedric, Michael Che, Whoopi Goldberg, Brian Regan, Jay Pharoah, Tom Papa, and Dean Edwards appear in the film. It’s also about comedy. And for sentimental types, there’s a cameo of “Opie and Anthony” before they became “Opie” and “Anthony.”
The Interview
The Interview is also helmed by a comedy powerhouse- Seth Rogan- who is starring and co-directing. His direction partner, Evan Goldberg also co-directed the hit comedy This is the End with Rogen, and collaborated on Superbad, Pineapple Express, the Green Hornet and a long list of other Rogen- helmed comedies. The film stars James Franco and Lizzy Caplan along with Seth, and adds the celebrity factors of Guy Fieri and Rob Lowe to the marquee. The Interview is also controversial, taking on a major world power who has threatened reprisals for being made the butt of the joke of the movie.
Which comedy powerhouse are you looking most forward to seeing? Top Five? Or The Interview.
