Last night on The Late Show with Seth Meyers Aasif Mandvi talked about his unique experiences in auditioning for roles. Being Indian he finds himself the victim, and the beneficiary of some subtle (and some not so subtle) racism. First– he gets asked to play a doctor all the time. And that seems okay, and that time he got asked to play a snake charmer seems pretty okay. But then they asked him if he had his own turban, and if he actually knows how to charm snakes. The weirdest part is the answer he gave them. Aasif also shares the story about how he got his gig on The Daily Show, and his dad’s great reaction to Aasif’s great news.
