Jan Hooks (1957 – 2014)

Jan Hooks who was a cast member on Saturday Night Live from 1986 to 1991, has died. According to TMZ, she had been battling a serious illness. Hooks joined the cast in ’86 after Lorne Michaels returned to NBC to produce the show. She’s best known for her character Candy Sweeney, one half of the Sweeney Sisters she performed with Nora Dunn and also her impressions of Tammy Faye Bakker and Sinead O’Connor.
After leaving Saturday Night Live, she became a regular on the sitcom “Designing Women” and had a recurring role on NBC’s “3rd Rock From The Sun”.
Jan Hooks was 57.
