Aubrey Plaza To Voice Internet Meme Grumpy Cat In Lifetime Movie
In what may be considered type casting, Aubrey Plaza will be voicing Grumpy Cat in the new Lifetime movie, Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever. Aubrey who plays Pawnee, Indiana’s resident grouch, April, on “NBC’s Parks and Recreation” leads the cast of this new live action holiday special.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the movie written by Tim Hill (SpongeBob SquarePants) and Jeff Morris tells the story of how Grumpy Cat got so grumpy by living in a mall pet shop until she’s rescued by a young girl who can talk to her. The lead voice role of Grumpy Cat was going to originally be played by Jane Lynch, but she reportedly turned down the part after winning the Emmy for hosting “Hollywood Game Night”.
“Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever” premieres Saturday, November 29th at 8 pm et on Lifetime.
