Maggie Gyllenhaal was asked about people’s fascination with Batman and she said its because he’s an ordinary human doing super human things. She then compared the caped crusader to the Russian feminist punk rock protest group Pussy Riot.
“We look at Pussy Riot and we just go, ‘My God, you’re so brave. You’re doing what we all wish we could do. You’re standing up against something that you think is really wrong, and you’re risking everything,’ and that’s kind of what Bruce Wayne is doing, right?”
And all this time we just thought it was the masks they had in common.
