Kristen Wiig To Direct Her First Film, Reteaming With “Bridesmaids” Partner
Kristen Wiig is set to start her directing career with a new film she’s co-writing with Annie Mumolo. The two were nominated for an Oscar for best original screenplay for writing the mega comedy hit “Bridesmaids”.
The new buddy comedy from Wiig and Mumolo is described as “best friends who find themselves in over their heads and out of their depths, which were, perhaps, not too deep to begin with.” That’s all that is being said about the plot, other than the fact that it revolves around the town, Vista Del Mar.
According to the LA Times, Kristen Wiig said she’s been wanting to direct for awhile and that this film seems like the perfect opportunity – but first comes writing it which is far from done. According to the screenwriters – “We’re very excited to be writing. We will be going into a cave for months to finish. An actual cave. We found one that’s nice and big. We’re putting a couch in there.”
