The Montreal Just for Laughs festival has announced four big movie events, including two movie premiers to take place at this year’s comedy festival.   The festival will debut a Jon Cryer comedy movie, as well as a documentary on a legendary New York Club.

The indie rom-com Hit By Lightning starring Jon Cryer will premier at the festival on Wednesday July 23rd.  The film was written and directed by Montreal native Ricky Blitt (Family Guy) and filmed in Ottowa, Canada.  In the film, Cryer plays a forty-something man who meets and falls in love with the perfect woman online, only to find out she wants him to kill her husband.   Stephanie Szostak (Iron Man 3) and Will Sasso (Mad TV, The Three Stooges) co-star with Cryer in the film.  Eat Drink Laugh: The World Famous Comic Strip Live, a documentary on the legendary New York comedy club will make its world premiere on July 25th.

In addition to the two premiers, Just for Laughs will play host to two other film events.  As part of their annual “In Conversation” series of conversations with comedy greats, “In Conversation with Nicholas Stoller” will take place on July 24.  Stoller recently directed the hit film Neighbors (which has grossed over 220 million worldwide), and has also directed Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Get Him To The Greek.  Past “In Conversation” guests have included Mitch Hurwitz, and Louis C.K.
The fourth event, Eat My Shorts! will feature 90 minutes of short films from the next generation of filmmakers, and will take place July 24th.
