Six-Word Festival On Twitter Happening Now
Yeah that’s a six word headline! The Six-Word Festival on Twitter is underway. Twitter, which really celebrates concise writing, is once again the host of the second Six-Word Festival. The idea behind the festival is virtual storytelling where Tweeters are given a prompt and must respond with exactly 6 words.
This year’s festival is full of celebrity tweeters and judges and prizes. One of the prizes includes being published in the new book, Six Words of Advice from Writers Famous & Obscure, coming out in 2015 from St. Martin’s Press.
The first competition on Thursday is judged by famed tweeter and comedian Rob Delaney along with TV’s Judge Alex Ferrer and Piper Kerman, author of “Orange is the New Black”. Here tweeters will be asked to tell a six word story on the theme “Glad I Didn’t Get Caught When…”
Other prompts on Thursday are about growing up and parenting. Challenges include writing a six word letter to your 3 year old self and six words that describe when you knew you were a mom.
Friday, June 6th is the last day of the festival and time for the six word main event: The 6 Word Memoir competition. At 1:30 pm et, the prompt will be given that asks “What’s Your Six-Word Memoir?” That’s when tweeters attempt to tell their life story in only six words. Celebrity tweeters involved in this challenge include Molly Ringwald, Maria Shriver, Katherine Schwarzenegger, George Takei, Rick Springfield, Rob Delaney, Piper Kerman, Judge Alex Ferrer, Sesame Street, BabyCenter, Jason Biggs, Jenny Mollen, Simon Doonan and Abbi Crutchfield.
