Big Jay Oakerson Tells Pete Holmes About the Time He Got “Chicken Winged” Off an Atlantic City Stage
Big Jay Oakerson went on the Pete Holmes Show and, in an intimate booth-chat, revealed that street-wise Jay and Mormon-y Pete were good friends when Pete first moved to New York. The two get to some reminiscing and sharing old time stories, and we find out that Pete’s ex-wife didn’t like him hanging around Big Jay. She didn’t quite approve of some of Big Jay’s youthful boyish exploits. Pete also shares some stories about Big Jay’s porn preferences.
Later, Big Jay talked about working the glamorous underbelly of Atlantic City “off” the Boardwalk, and tells a true survival story about being a young comic in front of a tough room. Kevin Hart used to host a show at a place called Sweet Cheeks– a place where “if you survive ten minutes on stage, you get $300 bucks.” Jay had a tough time winning over the crowd– ass kissing didn’t work, an introduction by Kevin Hart that Big Jay described as “the most moving Martin Luther King speech” didn’t work. Jay buying brand new kicks for the show didn’t work. He still got pelted off the stage with hundreds of chicken wings, and ended up driving home with a bloody face, chicken grease all over his brand new sneakers, and no $300 bucks. But he did have a great story.
