The Lost Bill Clinton Jokes
The National Archives and the Bill Clinton Presidential Library are in the process of releasing 30,000 pages of previously-unseen documents this year. Included in those documents, are some jokes written for Clinton’s speeches while he was President, but that he never actually told.
On Al Gore –
‘Which reminds me, I can’t stay too late. I’m starting to get nervous about leaving Al Gore alone at the White House.’
On George Stephanopoulos –
‘Some of my friends in Hollywood have started working on Home Alone 3. But their negotiations broke down with Macaulay Culkin. So, now, they’re asking for George. I figure, why not? With a little make-up he might look old enough for the part.’
On Ross Perot –
‘Sometimes journalists get too carried away pronouncing judgments … Just listen to what the press is saying about that cult leader in Texas: ‘crazed for attention’ … ‘driven by a messianic complex’ … Don’t you think you guys have been a little tough on Ross Perot?’
That last joke probably wasn’t used because there were too many Branch Davidians in the crowd that night.
