2020 Comedy Awards! Here Are Your Winners (As Voted For By You!) For the Seventh Annual Comedy Awards

Best of Everything in Comedy 2020 as Chosen by You

It’s time to close out this year’s Best of Everything in Comedy Awards by announcing your choices for the best comedy of 2020. At the end of a year where live performance was virtually nonexistent, there was still a tremendous amount of great comedy to celebrate. We had a difficult time choosing our top ten lists, and you had the difficult task of choosing the winners of our 2020 Readers Poll, the only place on the internet or IRL where you get to decide who is the best of the best: The Best of Everything in Comedy 2020

Thousands voted this year in 6 comedy categories including Stand Up Comedian of the Year, Best Album, Best Hour Special, Best Book Written by a Comedian, Best Comedy Movie, Best Comedy TV Show or Series. You also voted on Best Viral Video, and Biggest Scandal in 2020. Also don’t miss our picks for 12 Innovators Who Changed Comedy in 2020  and our Award for Remarkable Achievement of Exceptional Noteworthiness in Unrelated Categories,  even though we didn’t put those to a vote. You can see all our year-end lists– all 17 of them- right here.   Now onto the winners!

Or read the results from 2019, the results from 2018 as well as from 2017, from 2016,  our 2015 and 2014 awards posts here.

First the videos. Your pick for the BEST VIRAL VIDEO of 2020 goes to Skateboarding Dog, listening to Fleetwood Mac.  He captured your hearts and your views.   You overwhelmingly chose  CHRIS D’ELIA being accused of sexual misconduct as the #1 Scandal of the year overturning our pick of Ari Shaffir’s Kobe scandal.

In the stand-up categories, BEST COMEDY ALBUM had so many phenomenal albums and we stand behind all eleven nominees as outstanding performances.   Album of the year is always a close fight, and this year was no exception, but ultimately  you chose BONNIE MCFARLANE as your winner for her tremendous comedy album, BIRD CALLS, in which she skillfully skewers last year’s winner, Rich Vos, among other things.  Honorable mention to Mike Cannon who put up a good fight and threatened mayhem if he didn’t win. Read all the nominees here.

We never expected this year to have so many amazing specials to choose from, but it was a strong year for recorded comedy. We chose ten exceptional hours, and one took an early lead and stayed out front throughout the voting.  The BEST COMEDY SPECIAL  award goes to MARK NORMAND for his killer hour, which he self produced and put out on YouTube, OUT TO LUNCH. It’s Normand’s second special, and we think it’s his best so far with much more to come. After being named Jerry Seinfeld’s favorite young up and coming comedian, you had better produce something great, and Normand did just that. Read all the nominees here.
