Comedy Central has announced that tonight, Adam Lowitt who is an executive producer for The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, will be appearing as a contributor for the first time.

Lowitt, who is a writer and a well known New York stand up comedian, joined “The Daily Show” in 2002 as an intern and worked his way up to an Executive Producer/Writer position over the last 13 years. The six-time Emmy® award-winning Executive Producer/Writer has performed on Comedy Central as part of “John Oliver’s New York Standup Show” and in 2012 was selected to perform at the Just For Laughs festival in Montreal as part of their “New Faces” showcase, but has never appeared on The Daily Show.

There has been a trend of increasing criticism of The Daily Show including pieces from Salon and Splitsider, as well as suggestions that there is some dissention among the Daily Show team regarding the direction of the show. On the heels of that criticism, last night former host Jon Stewart appeared as a contributor and tonight you can tune in to “The Daily Show with Trevor Noah” at 11:00 p.m. on Comedy Central to see Lowitt’s first appearance as a contributor.

Regardless of whether these are moves in response to the criticism, or unrelated, we’re all in. Can’t wait to see who shows up tomorrow!
