The Comedian Who Changed My Life is Louis CK

The Comedian Who Changed My Life is a series where comics talk about, you guessed it, the comedian who changed their life.

Hey guys this is Ted Alexandro and the comedian who changed my life is Louis CK. A few years ago, I was doing a set at the comedy cellar, and Louis asked me to open for him on tour. I had known Louis for many years, you know we crossed paths over the years, and he was kind of always like one of the elder statesman or just like that next generation of guys that I looked up to. You know, like Dave Attel, and Greg Giraldo, Louis, all those guys; Todd Barry.

So anyway, when Louis asked me to open for him, it was a real kind of affirmation—a nice shot in the arm. Suddenly I was playing big theaters with Louis, and being exposed to his audience. Just learned a lot from him, both on stage and off, so it was a real gift to a comedian, to kind of pick the brain of a guy whose really done some great things in the business, and continues to. And then he had me on his show, and he had me open for him at Carnegie Hall. You know, he kind of exposed me to the big time. Which I really- I can’t really put into words how much that has meant. He’s been a mentor and a friend and he’s really shown me kind of how to do things right.
