Rod Man The Last Comic Standing

Thursday night crowned a new Last Comic Standing champion. The winner of LCS season 8 is Rod Man!

Rod Man beat out 100 other invited comedians to win the title of Last Comic Standing, not to mention the $250,000 grand prize and an NBC development deal. Rod Man beat out Nikki Carr and Lachlan Patterson in the final show of the season to win LCS.

Here’s how the 2 hour special finale went down.

It was announced by host JB Smoove that all 3 finalists would perform a set each and then the judges, Roseanne Barr, Russell Peters and Keenan Ivory Wayans would decide which 2 would go on to the final head-to-head competition for the championship.

Lachlan Patterson hit the stage first, doing material about late night televison and how Wheel of Fortune would be played in the Czech Republic. He was followed by Nikki Carr who joked about getting older and maybe had the audience’s favorite line of the night when she said – “That’s why I made a terrible heterosexual. I don’t like to stretch”. Rod Man went last in round 1 talking about possibly winning the $250,000 grand prize and his love for Mexicans despite being confused by their food.

Before the decision was made on which 2 comedians would be moving on to the final sets of the night, LCS brought back Alingon Mitra to perform. Alingon had won the online LCS Comic Comeback competition and won the chance to be the eliminated comedian who was invited back to perform on the finale.

All 3 finalists were brought back on stage and it was announced that Nikki Carr was through to the final two. Lachlan Patterson was called next. JB Smoove then invited Rod Man to join the other two and it was explained by judge Russell Peters that the panel couldn’t decide on which two should advance so all three moved forward with a chance to do one more set each and possibly win Last Comic Standing.

While the final 3 prepared, 2 of the judges took the stage to perform. First, Russell Peters followed by Roseanne who rifted on her 2012 Presidential campaign.

Rod Man, Nikki Carr and Lachlan Patterson all performed their final sets with no individual commentary from the judges. After some drawn out tension and the thought that this could still somehow end up in a tie, JB Smoove announced Rod Man as the season 8 champion of Last Comic Standing. He was congratulated by the other top 10 finalists who joined him on stage in a storm of confetti.

Last Comic Standing will return next Summer for season 9 on NBC.
