Yet Another Term For the Jerk You’re Dating: Cushioning

Just when you were getting a hold of “ghosting”, “breadcrumbing”, and for some disturbing reason “stealthing”, now there “Cushioning”.
Cushioning is when you keep a couple side pieces (or cushions) that your flirt with in order to cushion the blow if things don’t work out with your current significant other.
Why do we keep naming these things? Weren’t they all just called “assholes”?
