Who is On Late Night Tonight in Comedy: Week of October 12, 2020

Who’s on Late Night Tonight in Comedy?

This week, Trevor and one of the Jimmys are on the job, everyone else is on vacation and we’ve got another first-timer hosting SNL.

It’s mid-October which for some reason means vacation time for the late night hosts. Looks like most of our late night talkers still celebrate Columbus Day and will be out of the office the rest of the week as well. Fortunately, Jimmy Kimmel took an extra long summer break till the blackface heat was off of him, so he’ll still be here bringing us fresh shows and new late night comedy, as well as the Daily Show with Trevor Noah.

On Monday, Jimmy Kimmel Live welcomes Rashida Jones who is co-starring with Bill Murray in the new Sofia Coppola comedy “On The Rocks” which will be available October 23rd. As a Monday bonus, Kimmel will also have singer / songwriter / arranger / composer Rufus Wainwright on JKL as well.

On Wednesday, Kimmel plays hosts to Leslie Jones. The former SNL cast member will be promoting the new ABC game show “Supermarket Sweep“. This is the third incarnation of “Supermarket Sweep” in the history of television. The original aired in the mid-60’s hosted by Bill Malone. The “Sweep” was brought back in the 90’s and the aughts starring the magnificent David Ruprecht. The new Leslie Jones version of the show premieres Sunday, October 18th on ABC.

Then on Thursday, Josh Gad will be a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live to promote the new Disney short “Once Upon a Snowman.” Gad will forever go down in history for voicing Olaf the Snowman in the Disney animated smash “Frozen” and its sequel, which we think is called “Still Frozen!” If you ever wondered how Olaf the Snowman came to life, began walking around and playing with carrot, “Once Upon a Snowman” answers all those questions. The Disney short starring the voice of Josh Gad will premiere on Disney+ on Friday, October 23rd.

This week, Monday is packed with comedy guests on our late night reruns. Be sure to check the full listings below. In a battle of giant (stature not actual size) comedy guests, Jimmy Fallon is re-airing Kevin Hart’s most recent trip to the Tonight Show. Also on Monday, Stephen Colbert is replaying the Late Show featuring his Facetime interview with Jerry Seinfeld.

Wednesday night, the rerun to catch is Late Night with Seth Meyers. That night, Seth and company are airing an encore presentation of Colin Quinn’s latest appearance. Colin’s latest book, “Overstated: A Coast-to-Coast Roast of the 50 States,” which he was promoting when he last appeared on Late Night is available now everywhere.

You can start your weekend with a full Friday night of comedy. First, there’s a brand new episode of Real Time with Bill Maher at 10pm on HBO. As we get closer to the election, the more paranoid Bill gets about a possible repeat of the 2016 Presidential Election when “He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named” took office.

After Real Time, since you won’t be able to sleep anyway, stay up for A Little Late with Lilly Singh on NBC. Lilly is replaying an episode featuring a stand up performance from Aisling Bea. The Irish stand up and writer is part of the 2018 “Netflix Comedy Lineup” which you can watch on the streamer anytime.

Finally on Saturday night, Issa Rae makes her debut as a SNL host. The first-timer will host Saturday Night Live with musical guest Justin Bieber. Issa Rae is the Golden Globe and Primetime Emmy nominated creator and star of “Insecure” on HBO. It will be fun to see what she can do with the largest cast in SNL history on Saturday.

Enjoy your Columbus Day. Even if that includes tearing down statues of him.
