Who’s on Late Night Tonight in Comedy?

UPDATE : The new episode of Real Time with Bill Maher scheduled for Friday, May 14th has been cancelled due to Bill Maher contracting the Covid virus. According to Deadline, Maher is asymptomatic. However, the distressing part of the story is that Bill Maher was fully vaccinated when he became infected.

This week, Chappelle has a story to tell, Rock is in a spiral, and Haddish is here, today.

Hello late night fans. Want to start your week off on a very funny note!? Then, we suggest watching Jimmy Kimmel Live who has a veteran joke-crafter booked on Monday night. Jimmy has George Wallace  to start off the week on JKL. The new Mr. Las Vegas ( a title George Wallace has wrest away from Wayne Newton) has a new book available called “Bulltwit and Whatnot The Online Ramblings of George Wallace.” He’ll be on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Monday to discuss it. “Bulltwit and Whatnot” is available at GeorgeWallace.net.

The late night shows the rest of this week are featuring some of the biggest names in comedy, but all of them are doing something a little different than the brand of comedy that made them famous. With so much comedy booked this week, it’s hard to tell just which is the biggest night of comedy in late night this week.

On Wednesday, not only does Jimmy Fallon have the very funny Nikki Glaser booked on the Tonight Show, he also has the star of “Chappelle’s Show“, Dave Chappelle. First, Jimmy Fallon will have the interview portion of Chappelle’s appearance, but then there’s a musical performance that Chappelle is a part of Wednesday night too.

Dave Chappelle has teamed up with J. Period and appears on the first release from J. Period’s new album, “Story to Tell (Chapter One).” And it’s not just Chappelle that J. Period is collaborating with. The track also features Black Thought & Tiffany Gouché who will be performing the J. Period hit along with Dave Chappelle on Wednesday night on the Tonight Show.

Thursday, Jimmy Kimmel Live has its nominee for best night of comedy this week in late night. JKL welcomes Chris Rock. Chris has a new movie coming out that is about as far away from comedy as you can get. He stars opposite of Samuel L. Jackson in the latest chapter of the “Saw” movie series. It’s called “Spiral: From The Book Of Saw” or “Spiral” for short and it’s the newest terrifying edition to the “Saw” saga. It’s in theaters everywhere Friday, May 14th.

Then on Friday, Stephen Colbert wraps up this week of big late nights when he has two comedy powerhouses on the Late Show. Colbert welcomes the red-hot Tiffany Haddish and the iconic Billy Crystal to the Late Show to finish his week.

Tiffany Haddish and Billy Crystal co-star in the comedy-drama “Here Today” which Crystal also directs. The film which is already getting great reviews is co-written by Billy Crystal and Saturday Night Live legend Alan Zweibel. “Here Today” opened nationwide this past weekend and is in theaters now.

Looking at the weekend, there’s only two new Saturday Night Live episodes left in SNL‘s 46th season. The penultimate show of the season is hosted by Keegan-Michael Key. The Key half of the comedy team Key & Peele recently starred in the Golden Globe nominated comedy-musical film “The Prom” which is available on Netflix.

Despite creating and starring in the Emmy Award winning sketch comedy series, “Key & Peele“, this will be Keegan-Michael Key’s first time hosting Saturday Night Live. Key’s musical guest on SNL this coming weekend will be Olivia Rodrigo.

Enjoy the many, many laughs in late night all this week. If you can’t, then see a doctor. Something may be wrong with you.
