Temperatures are rising out there. No matter if you’re at work or on vacation this week, if it’s a hot day at the office or at the beach or your local Pride celebration, when you head home, first shower for God’s sake, then crank the AC and get ready to enjoy some late night comedy. Here’s this week’s highlights.
Monday kicks off our week (obviously) in late night with a couple of great young comedians who are making their marks in stand up. Ramy Youssef will be appearing on Late Night with Seth Meyers on Monday night. Ramy will be promoting his brand new HBO comedy hour, “Ramy Youssef: Feelings“. In the past, Ramy has been named as part of Comedy Central’s “Up Next”, the network’s list of promising and emerging talents in comedy. He also recently starred in a self-titled 10 part Hulu series called “Ramy” which depicted what life is like for a young Muslim man living in Trump’s America. The new comedy special “Ramy Youssef: Feelings” debuts Saturday, June 29th at 10pm et on HBO.
Also on Monday night, you can catch a replay of Sam Morril’s latest stand up performance on a Conan repeat. Sam is one the hottest young comedians working out of NYC and his Conan set is definitely worth another watch on Monday night.
The focus of the comedy world will be on the Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday night. It’s all about the laughs on Tuesday with Jimmy’s guests who are top names in comedy including Sebastian Maniscalco who is getting ready to kickoff his new fall tour next month. Sebastian’s “You Bother Me Tour” will also be making a stop in Jamestown, NY in August where he’ll be headlining this year’s Lucy Fest at the amazing, new National Comedy Center which was recently named one of People Magazine’s “100 Reasons to Love America”. Also on the guest roster for Tuesday’s Tonight Show are Trevor Noah, the host of the Daily Show on Comedy Central and the premier magic / comedy duo working today, Penn & Teller.
The rest of the week is peppered with very funny guests in late night television. Wednesday, the brilliant Colin Quinn makes a guest appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers which always makes for a memorable visit and usually comedy headlines the next day. And on Thursday, Phoebe Robinson will be on the Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon. Phoebe is half of HBO’s “2 Dope Queens” and is a very sought-after comedy talent. She recently signed with ABC Studios to start developing projects for the production house.
Friday night, watch for Seth MacFarlane on a new episode of Real Time with Bill Maher on HBO. Seth will be promoting a more serious turn for his acting career. He co-stars in the new Showtime mini-series “The Loudest Voice” which premieres Sunday, June 30th at 10pm et. Based on the book, “The Loudest Voice in the Room” by Gabriel Sherman, the 10 part series is the story of disgraced Fox News boss Roger Ailes and how he created the conservative media giant still loved today by all our parents and grandparents. Russell Crowe stars as Roger Ailes in a rare role where Crowe had to put on weight to play the part while Seth MacFarlane stars as Ailes’ right-hand man Brian Lewis.
Also on Friday, it’s your second chance to catch Kenny DeForest performing stand up on a repeat airing of the Late Late Show with James Corden on CBS. Then on Saturday night, SNL takes us back to February for its “Best Of” repeat episode hosted by Don Cheadle with musical guest Gary Clark Jr.
Remember, it’s better late night than never!
