Late night comedy this week starts off a little early on Monday evening. It all begins at 7pm et on Monday with the 5th installment of the 2019 edition of “Jimmy Kimmel Live: Game Night.” Game 5 of the NBA Finals between the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors is Monday night and JKL: Game Night is part of all the pre-game festivities. Jimmy Kimmel’s guest on JKL: Game Night on Monday is Anthony Anderson from ABC’s “Black-ish.”
Jimmy Kimmel will be back later Monday in his regular time slot with Jimmy Kimmel Live and his guest Ali Wong. She is one of the funniest comedians working today and has two of best comedy specials currently streaming on Netflix, “Ali Wong: Baby Cobra” and “Ali Wong: Hard Knock Wife“. One thing that both these specials have in common is that they were both filmed while Ali was pregnant. That’s something no other comedian can brag about.
Programming Note! Since the Golden State Warriors have forced an NBA Finals Game 6, there will be a bonus Thursday evening edition of “Jimmy Kimmel Live: Game Night” starting at 7pm et on ABC! If Golden State continues to hang on against Toronto and the NBA Finals goes to a decisive Game 7, “Jimmy Kimmel Live: Game Night” will air Sunday night as well before the pre-game show at 7pm et.
Tuesday, stay up a little later to catch Julio Torres on Late Night with Seth Meyers. Julio is a regular around the NYC comedy clubs and he’s known nationwide by the people who watch his work every weekend on Saturday Night Live where he’s a writer. Julio will be promoting his new comedy series, “Los Espookys“, which premieres this Friday, June 14th at 11pm et on HBO. The sitcom revolves around a group of friends who are really into horror. So much so, that they go into business together to provide horror to those who need it. And be watching for the Space Prince himself, Julio Torres, to premiere his first comedy special, “My Favorite Shapes” coming soon to HBO.
On Wednesday, Conan O’Brien is providing plenty of late night comedy. First with an interview with the iconic Louie Anderson as his guest, and that’s followed by a stand up performance by one of Team Coco’s favorites, Matt Braunger. Matt has been seen as a regular on @midnight and Chelsea Lately as well as performing on Conan. He also recently released this third comedy special, “Matt Braunger: Finally Live In Portland.” You can also get advice from Matt Braunger on his popular podcast, “Advice From A Dipshit.”
Going into the weekend, you can start it off with a new episode of Real Time with Bill Maher at 10pm on HBO. One of Bill’s guests on the panel this week is the legendary Martin Short who can make the heaviest of political topics into hilarious commentary. Even when the news is too much to take in this country, it’s nice to know there’s one Canadian still laughing at us.
Enjoy all the late night comedy this week. And if you have to, save it until the next morning. That’s fine. It won’t go bad.
