During the day, the country is having a heatwave. Meanwhile late at night this week, television is having a comedy-wave filled with very funny people promoting their new comedy shows and stand up comics taking the stage on national television.
David Spade is making the late night rounds this week to promote his new late night talk show which premieres on Comedy Central next Monday, July 29th right after the Daily Show with Trevor Noah. Spade is the latest comedian to try his hand at the 11:30pm time slot on Comedy Central which has struggled to find a permanent replacement for “The Colbert Report” which wrapped in 2014 after Stephen Colbert went on to replace David Letterman on the Late Show on CBS.
“Lights Out with David Spade” will feature Spade doing his signature snarky take on pop culture and the news, along with visits from a regular rotating group of his comedy friends and out-of-the-studio reports and video projects. David Spade will be promoting “Lights Out” this Monday on the Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon and then Tuesday night, Spade drops by his lead-in show to talk about his new series when he visits the Daily Show with Trevor Noah.
On Wednesday, Danny McBride will be on Jimmy Kimmel Live to talk about his new HBO sitcom, “The Righteous Gemstones“. McBride is looking for his third straight hit for HBO following his other hilarious premium cable comedy series, “Eastbound and Down” and “Vice-Principals.” The new series has an all-star comedy cast including John Goodman, Adam DeVine and Edi Patterson who along with Danny McBride, star as the holy roller televangelist family, the Gemstones. The clan is mixed up in all kinds of schemes while ripping off their flock in the name of Lord.
We also got a couple of great stand up performances we’re looking forward to in late night this week. First on Wednesday, the Late Late Show with James Corden has an amazing night of comedy planned with Eddie Izzard as a guest on James Corden’s couch and then stand up from Dave Ross. The L.A. based comedian has been on shows like “This Is Not Happening with Ari Shaffir” and “Drunk History“, and now he’s making his national television stand up comedy debut on the Late Late Show on Wednesday.
On Thursday, it’s your chance to catch one of our favorite stand up comedians, Mike Vecchione on the Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon. This is a return trip to the Tonight Show for Mike. It’s his 4th overall, and his 3rd to Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show. Mike’s latest comedy album, “Mike Vecchione: The Worst Kind of Thoughtful (Live)” is currently available on iTunes. You can also hear Mike Vecchione’s podcast “No Disrespect” with co-host and fellow NYC comedian Justin Silver on Thursdays at 3pm et on the GAS Digital Network.
Then on Saturday, it’s a Best Of SNL hosted by “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” herself Rachel Brosnahan from the award winning series on Amazon Prime. This is a repeat of Rachel’s SNL hosting debut and definitely worth catching again.
It’s a great week in late night. So, why would you be sleeping when you could be up laughing!?
