Who is On Late Night Tonight in Comedy: Week of April 8, 2019

Who’s on Late Night Tonight in Comedy?

It’s the last week to prepare your taxes. That is if you intend on filing on time or filing at all. When you’re up late searching for those lost receipts this week, you might as well enjoy some late night comedy. Here’s your highlights for this week in late night.

On Monday, Jimmy Kimmel Live continues its Marvel tradition when JKL hosts the stars of “Avengers: Endgame.” Jimmy Kimmel always makes sure to fill up his double couches with super heroes whenever an “Avengers” movie comes out and he’s “assembled” the “Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.” JKL has other Marvel superheroes who didn’t fit on the stage on Monday throughout the week including Danai Gurira from “Black Panther“, Jeremy Renner aka Hawkeye, and Don Cheadle better know to “Avengers” fans as War Machine.

Also on Monday, two of the funniest talk show guests in the talk show guest business are appearing in late night. Both always turn their guest spots into comedy highlights. You’ve got Zach Galifianakis on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert promoting his new animated comedy film, “Missing Link.” And an hour later, it’s Bill Hader appearing on the Late Late Show with James Corden who is promoting the new season of his Emmy Award winning dark comedy series, “Barry” now airing on HBO.

Tuesday bring us fresh comedy from a veteran comedian and an up-and-coming comic. First, tune to TBS for what’s sure to be a memorable visit by Patton Oswalt on Conan. Patton can be heard, but not seen in the new season of the mixed live action & animation comedy crime series, “Happy!” on Syfy. The series co-stars Christopher Meloni as a down-and-out detective who’s visited by a magical blue unicorn that only he can see and that shares a voice with Patton Oswalt.

Next up on Tuesday, Kenny DeForest returns to Late Night with Seth Meyers for a performance. Kenny was named as part of the New Faces showcase at last year’s Just For Laughs comedy festival in Montreal. He performs in festivals all over the country and was also seen recently on Pete Holmes’ series “Crashing” on HBO.

There’s a couple of non-comedy highlights coming up on Wednesday. On Comedy Central, the Daily Show with Trevor Noah scores a big get with the Queen of Everything, Oprah. Meanwhile over at TBS, Conan has a very rare interview with Sean Penn as its only guest in the Team Coco guest seat. On the comedy side, a former member of the legendary comedy troupe Monty Python, Terry Gilliam sits down with Jimmy Fallon the Tonight Show.

Thursday belongs all to Conan for booking perhaps the funniest guest on the entire late night schedule this week, Bill Burr. One of the best host / guest combos in late night television is Bill Burr’s appearances with Conan O’Brien. Bill is getting ready to embark on his completely sold out tour of Europe, besides doing his weekly “Monday Morning Podcast“. Who knows what will have Bill Burr riled up when he arrives on Conan!? It could be anything from tax season to vegans to the children’s movie “Dumbo“.

Finally this week, the late night comedy god (Lorne Michaels) is shining on us. We’re getting another new episode of Saturday Night Live. This week’s host is Emma Stone and she is becoming an SNL veteran. Emma moves closer to receiving her Five-Tmers Club smoking jacket when she hosts Saturday Night Live for the fourth time this weekend.

It’s getting late and we’ve got some comedy to watch, have a great week!
