Who is Hosting Saturday Night Live Tonight: October 7, 2017

Tonight, live from New York, it’s Wonder Woman, Gal Gadot!

The Amazing Amazon from the biggest movie of the Summer of 2017 who has battled Aries the God of War and the monster Doomsday on screen, is now facing her biggest threat yet, live television tonight at 11:30pm on NBC. Gal Gadot, who started her career in her native Israel as a model, gained fame in the United States by appearing in several of “The Fast and the Furious” series of films and then swung her Golden Lasso into super stardom by appearing as the comic book icon in “Batman v. Superman” and this year’s “Wonder Woman“.

Tonight will be her first time hosting Saturday Night Live and she admitted she is getting the jitters about going live as tonight’s SNL date drew closer. Gal Gadot brought up the subject while appearing at the famed 92nd Street Y in New York City where she was speaking with Hollywood Foreign Press Association President Meher Tatna. According to a piece on ThisInsider.com, Gal told the audience at the Y that her nerves about the show come from her natural accent, saying, “That’s my fear — to speak like a dummy.” It’s not the performing that worries her because she’s had some experience with that in her native Israel, “Improv, yeah I did, but never in America on Saturday night. I can barely say ‘Saturday Night Live,'” adding, “I’m thinking about the monologue and I’m like, ‘Ahh.’ Say ‘Saturday Night Live.’ But I am excited.”

Gal Gadot will be promoting her next blockbuster film coming out, “Justice League“. However, “JL” doesn’t hit theaters nationwide until November 17th. That’s a long way out for a project that a Saturday Night Live host usually promotes when visiting Studio 8-H. This makes us wonder if another member of Justice League‘s ensemble cast may be added to SNL‘s hosting roster closer to the film’s release. This certainly leaves room for Ben Affleck who plays Batman in Justice League to make a return to SNL in mid-November, especially considering how he’s a Saturday Night Live hosting favorite.

As for tonight’s show, we wouldn’t be wrong to assume that SNL will do some sort of tribute to the victims of the Las Vegas mass shootings and murders and maybe a tribute clip to the late great Tom Petty who appeared as a musical guest on Saturday Night Live on 8 separate shows. Plus, let’s go ahead and predict on comedy side of the show, a Wonder Woman parody perhaps including someone who confesses way too much under the influence of her Golden Lasso and let’s look for Alec Baldwin appearing in another cold open or sketch featuring President Trump making his way through Puerto Rico.

Lorne Michaels and the bullpen of SNL writers, including some first-season scribes, are feeling confident enough to entertain some first time hosts early in the season, like Gal Gadot. Next week, Kumail Nanjiani (The Big Sick, Silicon Valley) another Saturday Night Live first timer will be the host. If you’re choosing people to host SNL for the first time, these are two definitely worth selecting based on the year each of them is having.

In the first of promos released for tonight’s brand new SNL, cast members Mikey (or is it Marky?) Day, Beck Bennett and Leslie Jones find out the hard way if Gal Gadot is anything like her superhero persona. Next Gal is joined by cast member Kenan Thompson and musical guest Sam Smith and we learn about the “nude lip”.

Gal Gadot hosts the second episode of Saturday Night Live‘s Season 43 with musical guest Sam Smith tonight at 11:30pm, and live across all time zones on NBC.
