VICE Sheds Light On The College Football Recruiting Stalker
With National Signing Day having come and gone, VICE has focused on a disturbing part of player recruiting: adults who follow high school players. When a player gets a little buzz in the recruiting services, even as early as his sophomore year, adult fans will follow them on Twitter. Not only are they hoping for some indication of their school of choice, they also lobby them to come to their school. Some of them even offer money or gifts, which are NCAA violations, but the organization doesn’t consider them credible enough to prosecute. Sometimes it’ll even include famous people: porn star Mia Khalifa’s recent recruiting attempts for FSU have gone viral. It’s all a reminder how insane college football fandom is.
