Veteran comic Todd Barry has just finished work on his upcoming book, Thank You for Coming to Hattiesburg: One Comedian’s Tour of Not-Quite-the-Biggest Cities in the World. In a tweet on Wednesday afternoon, the comedian announced that he’s sent in a final draft to his editors at Simon and Schuster.

The new book, part memoir and part tour journal, will detail Barry’s experiences on the road — both in major cities and smaller “secondary markets” — over the course of his 30+ year career.

“There’s something great about performing in a place where they don’t expect to see you. They’re appreciative,” Barry says in an introduction for the book. “They say things like ‘Thank you for coming to Hattiesburg’ as much as they say ‘Nice show.’ And almost every town has their version of a hipster coffee shop, so I can get in my comfort zone.”

Barry has certainly gotten around in his lengthy career. He’s had roles in films like The Wrestler and shows like Flight of the Conchords and Louie. He’s provided his voice to various Adult Swim projects such as Squidbillies, Dr. Katz and Aqua Teen Hunger Force, and has put out four albums and a tour documentary (Todd Barry: The Crowd Work Tour) to date.

Thank You for Coming to Hattiesburg: One Comedian’s Tour of Not-Quite-the-Biggest Cities in the World is set to be released on March 14th, 2017; it can be pre-ordered now via Simon and Schuster’s website. or on Amazon.com.
