Artist Burned 1,000 of His Own Paintings

British artist Damien Hirst burned his paintings and streamed it all on Instagram as part of his project “The Currency”. All of the paintings were created to be NFTs.

Brain Cells Grown in a Lab Play Pong

A doctor at Corticol labs claims he has grown the first sentient brain in a dish. They grew the cells from stem cells, and used electrodes to connect the cells to the video game Pong. The cells learned to play in about five minutes.

Great wake me up when they can play asteroids.

Court Orders Alex Joins to Pay Almost a Billion Dollars

A Connecticut Jury handed down their decision against Alex Jones today, awarding $965 million dollars to the families of eight children who were killed in the Sandy Hook mass shooting.

One beeeeelion dollars.

Andy Warhol's Prince Portraits Made it to the Supreme Court

A legal battle between a photographer, and the Warhol estate was heard in the Supreme Court today, with the court being asked to determine if Warhol’s paintings, based on a photograph, infringed the photographer’s copyright. A federal court ruled in 2019 that Warhol’s work was sufficiently transformative because it evoked different feelings than the original. Then the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals reversed the decision in 2021, saying the court misapplied fair use factors. Now the Supreme Court is being asked to examine that reversal.

In considering fair use, courts consider four factors including the effect of the use upon the potential market of the original.

Shouldn’t this have made the photograph worth more?

She’s been quiet till now, but Gisele Bundchen posted a comment on someone else’s instagram post today that speaks volumes about her separation from Tom Brady. “You can’t be in a committed relationship with someone who is inconsistent with you. A new book about Paul Newman, The Extraordinary Life of an Ordinary Manis based on interviews with friends and family and Newman himself over the span of five years in the mid-’80s. In the book, Newman himself describes how he and Woodward fixedup a room with a “thrift shop double bed,” which was declared the Fuck Hut by Woodward. “It had been done with such affection and delight. Even if my kids came over, we’d go into the F – – k Hut several nights a week and just be intimate and noisy and ribald,” Newman said.
