Florida Could Be on the Hook for Over a Billion If They Enforce New Disney Law

Disney criticized Florida’s Don’t Say Gay law. Florida retaliated by fast track passing a law to remove Disney’s special district in the state. Now Disney says the state of Florida can’t eliminate their special district status without paying off over a billion in debts.

The law that created the district, included an agreement by the state that they wouldn’t modify the exemption “until all such bonds together with interest thereon, and all costs and expenses in connection with any act or proceeding by or on behalf of such holders, are fully met and discharged.”
