Some states believe older trick or treaters are ruining the experience for the younger kids and have put an age limit on the activity punishable by fines and in some cases jail time. In Chesapeake Virginia if you’re caught trick or treating over 12 you could get 6 months of jail or a $100 fine, other cities like Norfolk, Portsmith, Suffolk, and Virginia Beach also limit trick or treating to 12 and younger. In Charleston S.C. you have until your 16 to get free candy. Don’t get arrested for trick or treating, you really wouldn’t last long in jail when you say that’s why you got locked up.
