South Carolina Reported 22 NCAA Violations, Including Impermissible Cookie Icing

gamecockThe University of South Carolina self-reported 22 violations to the NCAA during the 2013-14 school. One of the most egregious was serving a giant cookie to potential recruits, which would’ve been fine, except it was decorated with icing that read “Gamecock Football, Welcome!”, which is an NCAA violation (it got out when one of the recruits tweeted a pic).

Among the other violations:

  • – Displaying trophies in the locker room
  • – Allowing a high school prospect to take a picture with a former player
  • – Texting a junior prospect
  • – Failing to have four recruits sign drug testing forms (an ice storm canceled the meeting)

The Gamecocks also reported an SEC violation: allowing a prospect to stand on the football field wearing a general SC jersey to announcing his signing.
