Son of Sam killer David Berkowitz offered his condolences from prison to the family of New York Daily News writer Jimmy Breslin. Son of Sam wrote to Breslin at the paper during the middle of his killing spree in 1977. After hearing of Breslin passing away, Berkowitz wrote, “I wish to extend my condolences to his family at their loss,”. He said his neighbor’s dog sends his sympathies as well.
