Silicon Valley Gets Season 5, Minus One Celebrity Co-Star

Silicon Valley is coming back for another season, but down a man.

Details are slim at the moment, but Variety is reporting that T.J. Miller, who plays entrepreneur and Pied Piper spokesman Erlich Bachman on HBO’s Silicon Valley, will not be returning for the show’s fifth season.

“The producers of Silicon Valley and T.J. Miller have mutually agreed that T.J. will not return for season 5,” said HBO in a statement. “In Erlich Bachman, T.J. has brought to life an unforgettable character, and while his presence on the show will be missed, we appreciate his contribution and look forward to future collaborations.”

It’s unclear at the moment why Miller will be departing. His character’s arc on the current fourth season doesn’t seem to imply that he’s on his way out, though with five episodes still left in the season, that could certainly change. Regardless of his reasons for departing, Miller’s character will be sorely missed, as he’s one of the clear standouts comedically.

Fret not for Miller, however, as he’s still got plenty of work on his plate. He’s currently hosting Comedy Central’s bizarre talk show The Gorburger Show and is going to reprise the role of Weasel in the sure-to-be-huge Deadpool 2. On top of that, he’s set to co-star in Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player One and the upcoming The Emoji Movie, so he’s doing pretty well for himself.
