W. Kamau Bell Special To Air Next Month on Showtime

SHOWTIME has announced that they will air a one-hour special next month starring comic W. Kamau Bell. The special, which premieres on April 29th, was directed by Oscar nominated documentarian Morgan Spurlock.

The director, known for his previous hit films Super Size Me and Freakonomics, is a fan of Bell’s: “I have been a huge fan of Kamau for years, and when he approached me about directing his first big time comedy special, I jumped at the chance,” said Spurlock. “As a lifelong fan of standup comedy and specials, I thought this opportunity was too good to miss.” Bell’s aim was to create something that would make people laugh and “help make these times a little bit easier to deal with” and confesses that “the fact that it is directed by one of my favorite filmmakers ever, Morgan Spurlock, is too much to have hoped for.”

The special is titled SEMI-PROMINENT NEGRO and will air at 10 pm on April 29th on SHOWTIME, watchable either on-air, online or on demand. The trailer for the special can be watched below:
