Shannon Briggs May Be Stalking Wladimir Klitschko

Former heavyweight champ Shannon Briggs’ last major fight was against Vitali Klitschko in 2010, when the Ukrainian beat him so badly he went to the hospital with a fractured eye socket. Now it looks like Briggs wants back in the game, but with Vitali now out if the game and mayor of Kiev, he’s looking for a match with his brother, Wladimir. But he’s not using managers: he’s daring Wladimir to a fight in person. And virally.

For months, Briggs has been challenging Klitchko in his own gym and crashing his press conferences, constantly baiting him into a fight and eventually being tossed out. But a video of Briggs confronting Klitschko in a restaurant went viral Friday, with Briggs eating Wladimir’s food right off his plate before trying to start a fight at the table. Briggs reportedly went to the hospital afterwards with a cut to his foot from broken glass.

While the videos look as staged as WWE skits, Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix reports Wladimir has nothing to do with Briggs’ antics and has absolutely no desire to fight him. But he might be too late in avoiding Briggs’ stunts: BoxingNews24 reports Klitchko may have cut his hand during the restaurant confrontation, a month before a scheduled bout with Kubrat Pulev.

People thinking that's staged, it's not. I've talked to Wladimir. He's annoyed by it. And, rightfully, has no intention of fighting Briggs.

Should clarify: Briggs is probably staging it to get the fight/payday. Cameras at each encounter. But Wlad has no interest in that nonsense.
