Ron White, Iliza Shlesinger and Chris D’Elia to Perform at Hurricane Harvey Benefit in Austin

The biggest news story in America right now by far, is the continuing destruction being wrought in Texas by Hurricane Harvey. The Category 4 storm made landfall on August 25th, and in the days since, has dumped over 40 inches of rain in southern Texas, causing massive amounts of flooding and leaving countless thousands of people homeless. As is common after disasters like these, people from around the country are looking to help the people of Texas in any way they can, and now the comedy community is joining those efforts.

Today, Austin’s Paramount Theatre announced that they will be hosting The Harvey Relief Benefit: Comedy Helps. This fundraiser, taking place on Tuesday, September 5th, will bring comedians Ron White, Iliza Shlesinger, and Chris D’Elia together for a superstar comedy show being put together by the folks at the Paramount Theatre, the Moontower Comedy Festival, Ron White and Austin performers Turk Pipkin (along with his wife Christy) and John O’Connell. 100% of the funds raised at the event will be donated to the American Red Cross, one of the major organizations working with people on the ground in Texas.

Tickets for the event will go on sale on Thursday, August 31st at 10 a.m. CT. More information, along with links to purchase tickets, can be found here. Tickets are being sold in tiers, the cheapest at $75 and the most expensive coming in at $1,000. Higher-tier tickets will afford attendees front row seating, pre and post-show parties with Ron White and company, and a host of other perks. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the show starts at 8; Gold Circle VIP ticket holders will have access to a rooftop party with Ron White starting at 6:30 at The Contemporary Austin.

Ron White and Iliza Shlesinger are both Texas natives, so this disaster quite literally hits close to home for them. For the uninitiated, White is one of the founding members of the Blue Collar Comedy Tour and a staple of comedy clubs and festivals (including Austin’s Moontower Comedy Festival) across the country. Shlesinger is a winner of NBC’s Last Comic Standing and currently hosts her own late-night talk show on Freeform called Truth & Iliza. She has three specials on Netflix to date: Confirmed Kills, Freezing Hot, and War Paint. Chris D’Elia is best known for his roles on NBC sitcoms Undateable and Whitney. He recently released his first Netflix special, Man on Fire, and is the host of the popular comedy podcast Congratulations with Chris D’Elia.

If you’d like to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey, you can do so by donating to the American Red Cross.
