Star of Saturday Night Live, and author of her hilarious autobiography “Girl Walks into a Bar . . .: Comedy Calamities, Dating Disasters, and a Midlife Miracle” Rachel Dratch has a new show debuting on truTV Thursday night. Interrobang got a sneak peek at and can excitedly confirm this show is FUN. The first episode laces together sketches with interstitials of Dratch playing a waiter at a diner and serving up various snacks. Thus making the title of the show apropos, watching this show feels like ordering a bunch of comfort food at a diner.

According to TruTv, Rachel Dratch’s Late Night Snack is a showcase of never-before-seen short-form comedy content that lets the audience do their channel-surfing without ever leaving truTV.” The first episode alone is jammed packed with various scenes. There’s a sketch that wonders what it would be like if the astronauts on the Apollo 11 mission were passive aggressive, a short about buying condoms, a music video about the value of sleep, and a hilarious project that edits actors’ screen test auditions into an actual TV show.

TruTV reps fuller explain the show saying, “This block of programming is presented by Rachel Dratch, and will feature original offerings from some of the biggest and best comedic creators. Connected through stylized interstitials, the 30-minute weekly block features a carousel of premium comedy segments in a variety of styles including documentary, animation, music videos and scripted shorts.” We can confirm, this first episode alone features some of our favorite UBC comedians, like Julie Brister. Deadline further reports upcoming sketches will feature Alec Baldwin and Esther Povitsky.

If the first episode is any indication, this show is sure to be a hit serving us smart, funny sketches and shorts. It’s like the world’s best sample platter. Order up!
