Only Country That Plays A Sport Wins World Championship In Said Sport
The United States won the International Federation of American Football World Championship on Saturday, defeating Japan 59-12. The gridiron football tournament was meant to be played in Sweden, but the nation pulled out after failing to attract sponsors. The 12-country event was moved to Canton, Ohio, but the field was reduced to seven after Germany, Austria, Sweden, Morocco, and Canada claimed they couldn’t justify the costs of traveling to America.
The United States dominated the tournament, outscoring their opponents 214-36 (including a 82-0 beatdown of France), tripling the yardage of their opponents, and fielding a defense that scored more touchdowns (5) than they allowed (4). And the team had no NFL, CFL, or college players on the roster.
Congratulations, Rog! This’ll really show the International Olympic Committee that gridiron football is worthy of an Olympic medal.
