Bert Kreischer’s Dreams and 9 Other Reasons It’s Time to Finally Get on Snapchat

Great news for comedy fans who use Snapchat: Comedy Central has renewed four of their current Snapchat Discover shows and announced that nine new series are currently in the works. For those of you who don’t, it’s time to jump in.
Among the series being renewed are Quickie with Nikki, Comedy Central’s most popular Snapchat series, which features comedian Nikki Glaser talking candidly about sex, as well as Swag-A-Saurus with James Davis, Like it with Liza, and Hot Takes with Brandon Wardell.
Comedy Central is showing that they’re taking their presence on the app very seriously, as evidenced by the slew of new shows that will be joining their Discover lineup as well. The shows will be a mix of sketches, stand-up and animated shorts, and will star comedians and writers such as Bert Kreischer, Caleb Synan, Joe Zimmerman, and the Hudson Brothers.
For those of you who aren’t on board with Snapchat yet, these new series might make you reconsider. Our top 3 reasons for getting on the Snap Train are Kreischer, Lawrence and Abramson. Bert Kreischer’s new series Bert’s Dreams should be reason enough for most of you to finally figure out how it all works. The inner workings of a sleeping Bert will be animated by Johnny McHone, and served up Snapchat style. You’ll also soon have the chance to see Ian Abramson‘s creative touring show 7 Mins in Purgatory without leaving the house. Comedy Central has been mining the festival shows for new broadcast opportunities (it was just announced- Goddamn Comedy Jam and Roast Battle are coming to Comedy Central), and 7 Mins in Purgatory has been a big hit around the country. Created by Ian Abramson, each episode centers on five comedians who must perform their acts in an empty space devoid of an audience which watches and reacts from another location where the comedians can’t hear them. Mike Lawrence‘s You’re Wrong describes Mike as an angry nerd with strong opinions. He’s here to tell you why your take on everything from Batman to Ryan Reynolds is wrong.
Other new series include Untitled Late Night Series which exposes exactly what goes on during the commercial breaks in between late night interview segments, Deadliest Chef a parody of reality cooking shows, ride-sharing sketch series Guber Pool, Joe Zimmerman’s Animal-Lolz sharing true animated musings about the animal world, urgent Messages from the Future from Julio Torres, and The Lounge, an animated series about four friends who work at a middle school.
The premiere dates for the renewed/green-lit shows have yet to be announced, except for Quickie with Nikki, which will return April 19th.
Comedy Central has enjoyed great success on Snapchat since the app launched its Discover section in January 2015. A recent survey reported by Variety showed that Comedy Central’s channel was the second most viewed behind Buzzfeed’s, and this most recent announcement shows that they’re gunning for that top spot. With a ton of new, likely hilarious material on the horizon, mobile-conscious comedy fans have a lot to look forward to this year.
