‘New York’s Funniest’ Competition to Debut on SeeSo on March 17

Since its inception in 2008, “The New York’s Funniest” competition has brought some of the nation’s best and brightest aspiring comics to Carolines on Broadway. Now, the SeeSo streaming service is bringing the competition to audiences outside of “The Big Apple” with a new five-episode series debuting March 17.
The contest has helped launched the careers of Michael Che (who competed in 2012), Joe Machi (who competed in 2013 and became a top ten finalist on Last Comic Standing), and Ricky Velez, the 2014 winner who landed a gig as a regular on Larry Wilmore’s Nightly Show.
Hundreds of comics and would-be comics auditioned before a panel of judges, with 20 semifinalists advancing to perform in front of judges and a live audience. Michael Che and Leslie Jones of Saturday Night Live serve as hosts.
“The New York’s Funniest Competition” was taped at Carolines last fall. The winner of the competition – spoiler alert – was Matt Pavich, a comedian, writer, and actor from New York City, Pavich will appear on MTV2’s Joking Off – Season Two next month and is the co/creator/star of the web series The Neighborhood.
Other featured comics include Anthony DeVito, Charles Gould, Sara Armour, and Nimesh Patel.
“Bajillion Dollar Propertie$,” a semi-scripted spoof of the Los Angeles real estate scene produced by Kulap Vilaysack, Thomas Lennon, and Ben Garant (of “Reno 911”) and the all-crowd work-themed “Big Jay Oakerson’s What’s Your F@%ing Deal?” also premiere on SeeSo on March 17.
SeeSo is available via Android, iOS, Amazone Fire TV, Fire Stick and Roku Platforms.
