New Prime Number Found That Has 22 Million Digits

primeA prime number is a number that can only be divided by itself and 1. The largest known prime number used to be a mere 17 million digits. Now that record has changed because mathematicians used a computer and found a new holder for the largest prime number title. The gigantic number is so big that it can only be written down using exponents: 274,207,281 – 1 (22 million digits). This is pretty smart stuff, but not nearly as smart as the Big Bang Theory. And yes, we mean the TV show.
