Montreal Rap Up Final Thoughts and Even More Photos

So I’m in a packed elevator and a guy looks over at me and gives me props for Too Much Tuna. He looks familiar, and has some cool little kind of short dreads that stick up all over, but I can’t place him, cause my mind is occupied and I’m not thinking straight, and that happens to me sometimes. There are times I don’t recognize people I know well. I ask him his name and he just says “Eric.” After he leaves I realize it was Eric Andre and I feel like the biggest douche cause I didn’t tell him how much I like his show on Adult Swim, The Eric Andre Show. The one that Hannibal Buress is on! The craziest most fun show on the air. So I spent the rest of the weekend looking for Eric Andre, and one time I had heard he was at the bar area and I went over and he wasn’t there but instead I found Luenell, who was there to do a show and has a lot of cool stuff going on. We took a photo and she was concerned that her breast was trying it’s best to pop out, but we took the picture anyway. But I still wasn’t able to find Eric.
That is until I got to the airport in Montreal to come home, and who do I see first but Jeffrey Ross, and who is he talking to, Ari Shaffir and Eric Andre! So cool! And then Mike Bochetti joined us holding just a thing that looked like a sandwich. No luggage or nothing. Just a thing in his hand which turned out to be a bottle of cologne or perfume he had bought as a gift. It was his first time at JFL and he was very excited about it to say the least! He came up for only one day to be on Artie Lange’s podcast!
And then we board, and my seatmate turns out to be Josh Poole, Director of Development at Above Average, the digital arm of Broadway Video who I had met the day before at one of the cool panels at the Pro Conference. I had gone over to him after the panel to introduce myself and talk about a potential project, and we had exchanged information. Now he’s sitting next to me. Another synchronicity, but I told him right away, “Don’t worry, I’m not gonna pitch stuff to you on the ride home”, cause that would have been a nightmare for the guy, to just happen to sit next to a guy who’s pitching you on stuff the whole way home. We both thought it was a funny scenario, and I think he appreciated that I said that, and so out of respect for his sanity and position, I made sure not to talk about anything comedic, … until the plane landed in New York! Very cool guy!
Waiting at the carousel for my luggage with Bochetti we run into Hasan Minhaj from The Daily Show who besides being on Trevor Noah’s gala and other stuff had his own show called Homecoming King, and he was standing with Michael Che who also had his own show at JFL, and said he had a good time, but that he lost his phone, and then he warned me that if I get texts in the middle of the night that look like it’s from him, that it’s not really him.
I think he made up that whole lost phone story just so he could text me in the middle ot the night and I wouldn’t think it was him. But if any of you DO happen to find his phone, please let me know and I’ll get it back to him, cause you won’t be able to call him to let him know, because he lost his phone, and on some level I believe he really did, … and that totally sucks!
Oh yeh, and when I left the hotel I ran into Aish Alfa, the girl I took to the Howie Mandel gala the night before, who told me she and her team won the pitch contest for her web series Open Engagement. So cool!
And so funny that I just happened to know both pitch winners, Dan Perlman and Aisha Alfa! They say things happen in threes! Maybe something cool now will happen for me! (LOL)
Anyway that’s all for me! I’m OUT!!!
