Micucci Talks Dirty on Conan

Kate Micucci may look sweet and innocent, but some of the comedian/songwriter’s song topics had Conan O’Brien and Weird Al Yankovic squirming in their seats during an appearance on Conan Tuesday night.

Micucci, one-half of the comedy duo Garfunkel and Oates with Riki Lindhome, was appearing to promote their special Garfunkel and Oates: Trying to be Special which premieres Thursday on Vimeo.

Though the trailer promises the special will be filled with “dick jokes and whimsy,” Conan still had a hard time reconciling the cherubic Micucci with her occasionally foul-mouthed Garfunkel and Oates persona. “Before Riki, I was singing songs – I had three songs about my dog. I had two sings called ‘The Happy Song,” ‘Happy Song No. 1’ and ‘Happy Song No. 2,” Micucci said.

After meeting Lindhome? “Our first song was – I probably shouldn’t say what it was called, actually,” she said, before revealing the titles was “Fuck You,” a title which promoted Yankovic to pantomime breathless outrage. From there, Micucci said it was a slippery slope. “People started paying attention and it was very exciting,” she said. “We have a song about hand jobs called ‘Hand Job, Bland Job, I Don’t Understand Job,’ which is in our special Thursday or ‘God’s Loophole,’” which, she explained, is about girls who save their virginity by having anal sex.

Trying to be Special was written by Micucci and Lindhome and directed by Lindhome and Jeremy Konner.
