Mattel Stops Selling Sea World Barbie

Toy giant Mattel is dropping their line of “Sea World Barbie” dolls featuring Barbie dressed as one of the theme park’s trainers. Mattel didn’t say why they were getting out of the Sea World toy business, but PETA attributed it to the bad press Shamu’s home is getting after the release of the documentary “Blackfish” which claims the park’s killer whales are abused. PETA released a statement saying, “With people worldwide appalled by SeaWorld’s cruelty, Mattel’s decision to stop promoting the park is a smart one.” Despite the decision, Mattel’s “Rhino Poaching Barbie” and her Safari Cruiser will still be available at some stores.
