Comedian and Upright Citizens Brigade co-founder Matt Besser’s new comedy special Besser Breaks the Record shows off the veteran improviser’s natural knack for characters, sharp wit, and the out-of-the-box comedy he is known for. Filmed live at the UCB theater in Hollywood, Besser brings some theatrical surprises to the stage in the special, such as trying to break the record for “Most Jokes Told in One Minute while Eating,” “Most Characters Performed in 5 Minutes,” and finding a rhyme for the impossible rhyme.

Besser also reads aloud his favorite letters to the editor in the album, complete with his signature snarky commentary. He also revisits the 10 Commandments — and creates his own modern, identifiable version.

“Matt Besser is one of the founders of the current and next generation of comedy creators,” Comedy Dynamics President, Brian Volk-Weiss, says in a press release. “To be working on a show like this is to be part of the kind of ground-breaking comedy history we embrace.”

Matt Besser’s special is available on the new NBC all-comedy streaming service SeeSo, and the album is available today. If you’re a Seeso subscriber you can see Besser reunite with fellow Upright Citizens Brigade founders Amy Poehler, Matt Walsh and Ian Roberts to host the The UCB Show, a variety program which showcases the best improv, sketch and stand-up talent from the UCB theaters.
