Longhorns Captain Got The Coin Toss Wrong
The Texas Longhorns were behind in a game before it even kicked off. During the coin toss for Saturday’s game against UCLA at Jerry World, UCLA won the toss and elected to defer to the second half. So Texas could’ve gotten the ball first – had the captain not elected to kick the first half. Even with the referee explaining it to him, he still chose to kick, meaning UCLA got the ball first in both halves (yes, it’s possible).
Texas head coach Charlie Strong was understandably pissed at the start, and losing the game 20-17 certainly didn’t make him feel better.

@tarheelblog The ref turned off the in-stadium mic as to not embarrass the Texas captains while explaining this.
