Happy Labor Day! Our late night talk show hosts are revving up to get ready for their fall seasons where they start to welcome guests from all the new sitcoms and the fall movie season. This week, all the hosts are taking the Monday holiday off, and then only Conan is off for the rest week. Team Coco is re-airing his week of “Conan at San Diego ComicCon” shows this week featuring Conan sitting down with the cast of “Breaking Bad“, and the casts of some of the biggest movies still to come in 2018 including the upcoming “The Predator” reboot, M. Night Shyamalan’s “Glass” and “Aquaman.”
This week, the normally reclusive Jim Carrey is out promoting his new Showtime series, “Kidding.” In his return to TV, Jim Carrey plays Mr. Pickles, a children’s television icon who is one of the kindest men walking the Earth. However, Mr. Pickles finds out the real world isn’t so kind when his family falls apart and he (as Showtime puts it,) “faces a slow leak of sanity”. On Thursday, Jim Carrey will be on Jimmy Kimmel Live talk about “Kidding” and then on Friday, Carrey is Bill Maher’s guest on a brand episode of Real Time on HBO. Other late night highlights this week include a must-watch episode of the Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Wednesday night. Colbert’s guests include a stand up performance from one of the funniest people working on the road today, Kathleen Madigan. Of course, Kathleen is currently on tour, when isn’t she? Other things to watch for this week in late night include the very funny Lil Rel Howery on the Tonight Show and Jerrod Carmichael on Late Night with Seth Meyers, both on Tuesday night. Then on Wednesday, it’s the reunion of comedy’s former cutest couple, Sarah Silverman and Jimmy Kimmel, when Sarah visits JKL. Then on Thursday, one of the premiere comedy directors and producers today, Paul Feig is on the Late Late Show with James Corden to talk about his latest film “A Simple Favor” where according to the trailer, Paul Feig explores his directorial dark side. Also on Thursday, in a non-comedy highlight, Jimmy Fallon welcomes Sir Paul McCartney to the Tonight Show for what’s sure to be a memorable performance.
