Last Man on Earth’s WTF Ending (Spoiler Alert)
Sunday night, Last Man on Earth aired the last episode of season 1. After having been picked up for season 2, the show struggled to keep audiences who realized (spoiler) Phil Miller is a HUGE jerk (although using your pool as a toilet should have been a clue about his character). The show turned Phil into the antagonist of his own show, magnified by the arrival of the “sensitive male” Todd (Mel Rodriguez), and then the polar opposite of Phil, a second Phil Miller (Boris Kodjoe).
Last night, the show ended with a big surprise when 1, Phil was banished from Tucson, 2) ex-wife Carol (Kristen Schaal) decided to go with him and became the hero of the show, 3) the reveal that Phil has a brother who is an astronaut still orbiting earth (played by Jason Sudeikis).
In the first episode, Jason Sudeikis appeared in a family picture of Phil’s former life, so the shocker makes sense. Turns out, it was more than just an inside joke for SNL fans.
