Internet Star Quits Everything, Says Social Media Isn’t Real Life

An 18 year old Australian model who had a large following on Instagram, YouTube, Snapchat, and whatever other social media outlets there are, has quit everything. Essena O’Neil posted this to her Instagram:
“Social media, especially how I used it, isn’t real. It’s contrived images and edited clips ranked against each other. It’s a system based on social approval, likes, validation in views, success in followers. It’s perfectly orchestrated self absorbed judgement. I was consumed by it.”
Though she may have seen the light, there are a thousand other online “celebrities” ready to take her place. And they’ll most likely be younger and giving make up tips.
