Why Do Human Brains Like High Ceilings!?

high-ceilingsA Toronto psychologist looked into why human beings seem to like rooms with high ceilings in them. This is what he found:

“On the one hand, such rooms promote visuospatial exploration, while at the same time they prompt us to think more freely. This could be a rather potent combination for inducing positive feelings.”

People will also tend to say a room is more beautiful the higher its ceiling is. Thanks to these studies we now know why the homeless are so free thinking, they don’t have any ceiling to speak of to keep them down.
